SHOW OPENING, Pottery Sale & Mountain Music

SHOW OPENING, Pottery Sale, & Mountain Music Saturday May 18, 12-4 pm

We are hosting a special event on May 18 from noon to 4 pm. This is an opening for the site-specific installation All I Know is Now by artist and Lead Resident Bill Jones. It is the first major activation of the tobacco barn and showcases Bill's dynamic, architectural vision of the vessel in space.

We are also thrilled to have live music on the cottage porch by legendary old time mountain dulicmer player Don Pedi. Pedi has recorded numerous albums, and he represented Appalachia at the 2003 Smithsonian Folk Festival, and he is the recipient of numerous awards.

Our studios will be open. See the work in progress, shop the pottery sale, and chat with Residency Director Marjorie Dial. Enjoy light refreshments and food by local chef and activist Luis Martinez. Luis was born in Santa Catarina Loxicha, Oaxaca, in a small Zapotec pueblo. He came to the US in 2005. Upon arriving in the US, he worked as a farmworker in Indio, California. Now based in Asheville, NC, Luis combines his love for cooking with his passion for social justice.

The event is free and open to the public. It is an afternoon of celebrating community, place, & art. Please bring a water bottle and chair if you want to sit for the music. Cash/Venmo preferred for pottery sale. Please tell your friends who are art & mountain music lovers!!

We are 30 minutes north of Asheville at 310 Ras Grooms Road Marshall, NC 28753
